When an animal needs major surgery, a second chance can come down to who is able to help.
For a stray or shelter animal, there may be no one able to cover the care. A treatable injury or condition can become the end of their story.
True North is being created to change that. Founded by veterinarian Megan McAndrew, our mission is to make critical surgical care possible for animals who would otherwise go without it.

Which animals will True North help?
Our intended focus is shelter, rescue, and stray dogs and cats who need critical surgical care and lack a way to access it. Every future case will require a veterinary assessment, an appropriate care plan, available resources, and a safe recovery arrangement.
Will Megan perform the surgeries?
Yes—that is central to Megan’s vision. True North is being built so she can provide surgical care with the clinical team, facilities, and support each case requires. The program is still in development.
Can I make a donation now?
We’re currently inviting conversations with potential founding supporters. Online donations are not yet open. When giving launches, we’ll publish the payment destination, how funds are used, and the applicable tax information before asking you to contribute.
Is True North accepting animals or referrals?
Not yet. We’re building the partnerships, funding, and recovery arrangements needed to start responsibly. Shelters, rescues, and veterinary teams can connect now about future collaboration. Please do not send patient records through this website.
What if an animal needs help right now?
This website is not monitored as an emergency service. Contact a local emergency veterinary hospital or your local animal control agency for an animal needing immediate help. Do not wait for a reply from True North.
Will you share patient stories and outcomes?
As the program begins, we intend to share real patient stories, care updates, and transparent information about the use of funds. The animal portraits on this launch site are illustrative images, not True North patients.
